Be a story shifter. So much of our well being and success is based on the stories in our heads. That and the action we take. And so often the action we take is based on the stories in our heads. So I'll refine that original statement and say ALL of our success is based on the stories in our heads.
Some people call themselves " Whisperers"...the horse Whisperer, the Muscle Whisperer.
I think I'll start calling myself "The Story Shifter" - for that truly is what I am.
As I lead people out of the prison of their minds (I'm a Non-medication Anxiety Specialist), a huge part of my work is re-creating their stories. They cannot do it themselves, for if they could, they wouldn't be where they are- stressed, anxious, limited, stuck, frustrated, conflicted...the list goes on and on.
The killer is that our stories keep us stuck in more ways than one.
A biggie and one that people don't think about is that our stories are creating not only outer experiences, but inner physiological experiences as well. As in, our stories are resulting in the hormones and neurotransmitters and chemicals that our brains and bodies are secreting.
We all know stressful thoughts create cortisol blasts and over time, if you're cranking stressful thoughts enough you deplete the store of "feel good" chemicals and you start living with sleep problems, attention issues, fatigue, irritability etc. etc.
What's cool tho' is that learning to shift your story in the moment of stress, you can avoid all this and actually start shifting the default thinking you have and switch it out over time to become more positive, hopeful, and optimistic. No matter how negative you've been in the past.
With the right combo of healing work, mindset shifting, and neuro-reprogramming, all kinds of amazing things are possible. That's the fun work I do.
You, however, can begin to be a Story Shifter right away.
One technique to power up the story shifting so things happen at a deeper level, is to recall a memory of a time of great achievement, happiness, health, or celebration and step into the energy of that memory. Capture the emotional state of it and your brain chemistry will begin to shift. Then you can piggyback an affirmation onto that emotional and energetic power and state your new story.
Here's two examples- one for the entrepreneur (of which I have many as clients as they are wanting to dump their gunk that is sabotaging their productivity and profits.) The other is for anyone battling an unwanted health condition.
If you're an entrepreneur, a common thread that is going on subconsciously and sabotaging your efforts is often the story "Making money and getting clients is such hard work and such an exhausting struggle. I am already working my ass off and I'm not getting anywhere."
When you feel this story begin to surface - ie, with your 6th cup of Joe in the afternoon, and a pile of To Do's on your desk, try this Story Shifter, and watch how your body responds. Remember, set the stage ahead with a previous memory to mojo yourself up energetically and chemically.
"I am making the effort to create a strong client base and increase my income. The ships (efforts) I am sending out today will return to me full of riches. All my efforts are met with appreciation and success. I am proud of my focus and determination."
Connect with the emotion of excitement to see what the "ships" bring in in the next few days or weeks.
This approach "I am in the process of", or "I am making the effort to" is a great story shifter because it does not trigger the tightness in your stomach which is the physical sign of your mind saying "Bullshit - that's not true" which would happen if you said "I have a full client base and money is rolling in" That hitch in the stomach sabotages you chemically and energetically and drives the belief of struggle and failure that much deeper into your neural pathway.
Ya gotta "Baby Step It" peeps, so it's believable to your brain and subconscious mind.
When battling a severe health condition - the story shifter is "I am in the process of transforming this condition. The majority of the cells in my body are healthy (that IS a fact) and every day more and more cells are healing and balance is being restored. " See that happening in your cells and connect with the excitement of that. THAT will create a very different emotional reaction than the typical thoughts we tend to have when in that circumstance. Let that be your mantra and your body will surprise you.
